Bangalore Days

Disclaimer: Being a huge fan of Malayalam movies and Anjali Menon, my review of the movie  'Bangalore Days' may be biased.

Bangalore days, was a movie I had been looking forward to watching. Because of the following reasons

1) Having spent my last four and best years in Bangalore, I knew I SHOULD be at least able to relate to some part of the movie
2) Dulquar Salman
3) Anjali Menon

There was an eager anticipation before the movie release mixed with a slightly unfounded fear of the movie not meeting such high expectations. The hype is usually proportional to the disappointment.

It turned out to be a superhit. Soon, they were running it with subtitles and theatres were partly filled with the curious non-kerala crowd.

The thing about Bangalore days is that there is drama without overwhelming emotions. There is a magical story without the fairy-tale touch. There is humor without cheesiness. There is romance which makes you think about the elusive concept of 'true love'. And best of all there is happy ending.

As I was watching the movie, I could not but admire Anjali for creating such a brilliant script out of nothing much. Bangalore days is not just a movie, it can happen to anybody. It happens to anybody and infact, it happens to everybody.

There is Arjun, the hard-headed rebel; frustrated angry young man.
There is Kuttan, your typical IT prof. who feels lost in the city and can't wait to marry a 'Naadan' pennkutty.
There is charming Kunju, newly married and new to Bangalore bringing with her a bag full of dreams.

They all have one thing in common. They all want love. Like all of us, right. Someone to love, somewhere to belong.

The movie's success mainly lies in how the actors and the script have actually captured and portrayed so appealingly the extra-ordinariness in the ordinary. It leaves you with a feeling that life is indeed worth living and restores our faith that love can take us by surprise at any moment.
