yours loyally.
Do you know who I mean when I talk about people, who you knew so well long time ago, who make a sudden appearance in your life. Out of the blue, you get a message or an e-mail. An attempt to bridge the gap that circumstances convened. Marriage, or job, higher studies. They disappear with the promise of staying in touch and you silently accept the reality that its not practical.
Today I got an e-mail.
And though the accusations rang loud in my head, I could not, but feel happy to know I was remembered, missed. Suddenly it brought to mind all good times we shared when we knew each other. The acknowledgement of a million things unsaid. A bond of familiarity of thought over which we connected. "I know, right" and that which led to so many thought-provoked conversations, never shying to share our deepest fears and our secret desires. And the other understanding perfectly what you mean and you basking in a friendship so comfortable that you are spared from having to explain yourself every time and you are always judged in your favor. And you can safely expect to go to their place anytime of the day or night and be welcomed warmly, and be taken care of or made to feel completely at home.
A friendship's strength would be determined by how many words it took for you to communicate something to your friend. And the lesser number of words it took each time, the stronger your connection.
I did miss losing that connection. It is not easy to make friends. Its only easy if you were not a complicated person. And if you were too simple, obviously you are not interesting, right?
So I replied, with a sudden prick of anticipation, all forgiven,
"I miss you too, we should catch up over coffee. Talk soon. Love.Bye"
