because of small things.

Esthappen keeps walking in and out of my thoughts, as he pleases.
But when he does, its hard not to pay him attention. To his Elvis puff, to his mysterious silence. To his jam-stirring and thinking of Two Thoughts and the circumstances that led to it...

This part of the book when I was reading, I had to break off to let the emotions it invoked settle. Because Esthappen, Estha, was only a child.  Sometimes, because the big things pale out in comparison with the small things.

Like how, that moment when baby fingers curl your index finger is bigger than the moment when the baby was born. The message from someone telling you, when interview sucked, that the company which rejected you was not lucky enough to have you is better than landing the dream job. And the moment you stopped living is infinitely much sadder than dying itself.

Because Estha loved, more than anyone else. Estha loved Ammu. Estha loved Rahel and Estha loved them all, with his sincere innocent heart...and still he was the one that had to go away.
